    AO2 Interrogatives
  • Mrs Alexander
AO1 - moves the play on
AO2- Dramatic device for comic relief through interaction with Christopher and moves the plot forward - ‘they were very good friends’ (when telling Christopher about his mother and Mr Shears). C responds: ‘do you mean they were doing sex?’ Not responsible of her to share this information with C but it cases him to being to investigate the link with his Dad and Mum’s relationship leading to his journey to independence.
  • AO3 – The comedy is provided here in a thoughtful way – contrast with drunk men on train who laugh at Christopher. Mrs alexander’s human connection with him allows us to laugh without prejudice at his innocence, not his autism.
  • AO3 – Comparatively to previous neighbours, Mrs Alexander engages with C on his level. She asks him questions to prompt interaction and makes adaptations to adjust to his needs. She appears to act as a balance to the negative attitudes towards disability. This may stem from loneliness but wants to form human connection, does not perceive his disability.
