  • The poem and ”Nothing gold can stay” captured my imagination because of the blissful imagery used. The first line “natures first green is gold” remind me of a lovely spring day where the grass is lush and nature is at its finest. The following line states that her hardest hue to hold - this quote made me think of how spring goes fast and changes rapidly. Summer passes and it’s autumn, and trees are bare.
  • The poem further unfolded lines, the line that captured my imagination was so Eden sank to grief. This biblical imagery made me reflective. It made me think about how the wrong doings of individuals brought an end to such a blissful place. It made me recall a paradise like location.
The last line of the poem so dawn goes down to day nothing goes can stay -remind me of the sun setting and rising. This line helps me comprehend how things in life eventually come to an end.

    • personification “her hardest hue to hold” - personified as a female. This can be contrasted with women. Woman are seen as alluring and significant figures. Monalisa, for example, was painted at the request of her husband to honour her. In addition, the Poet employs personification to emphasise the concept of transient beauty. On top of that, a woman's beauty is fascinating, but it fades as she ages--a contrast to the title. Initially, nature is described as gold, which implies that it is difficult to hold.
  • The second language technique Robert Frost used was allusion. In the poem nothing gold can stay frost alludes (saying something without saying it) the biblical story of Adam and Eve getting removed from the paradise like location. The line ”So Eden sank to grief supports my idea. This language technique was used to further elaborate on the transience of life as a whole and that nothing last foever.
Allusion added depth as it briefly tied in with the theme of loss and The fleetingness of Things.
  • A memorable metaphor used by Robert frost is the idea of Gold in the poem nothing gold can stay. This metaphor is used in the poem through the title on the first line the first line says that natures first green is gold. Gold serves as a metaphor for beauty life in other words his prize possessions and items of value. This metaphor was memorable because it made me think about the gold in my life and life itself. The idea of the gold in live being transient made me to realise that life is too short and I should enjoy it. Like the poem the pig scored as a thermal as a fades away.
