  • Jargons- the specific language used for a particular profession/group of people
  • Buzzword- a jargon that has become widely adopted and understood beyond its original group/industry

    It excludes outsiders & creates a sense of belonging within a group
  • Jargons may evolve over time and vary between different regions/industries
  • What is the purpose of Jargons?

    To facilitate efficient communication within a specific group
  • What is the advantage of Jargons?

    It may improve communication efficiency and clarity within a specific group
  • Direct Quotation/Speech- restatement of the speaker's exact words. (Ex. "A Filipino may denationalize himself but not his stomach," she said.)
  • Indirect Quotation/Speech/Reported Speech- report of the speaker's words. (Ex. She said that a Filipino may denationalize himself but not his stomach.)
  • Modals- helping verbs that can be used to express the possibility, probability, obligation, advice, ability, prohibition, requests, etc.
  • Word Cline- arranging words that have similar definitions according to intensity
  • Persuasive Essay- Aims to persuade the reader to accept the writer's point of view.
  • Descriptive Essay- Describes a place, person, or thing in detail. Paints a mental picture, uses the 5 senses, and explains the scenery
  • Narrative Essay- a piece of writing that tells a story or a story that is said. It has an introduction, setting, characters, plot, climax, & conclusion. Its format is beginning, middle, and end and its purpose is to entertain the reader
  • Argumentative Essay- A type of essay that takes a stand on a topic and then attempts to support it with evidence.
  • Expository Essay- aims to explain, describe, or analyze a topic. It has an introduction, paragraphs, and a conclusion and is usually used in school writing class
