  • The six beliefs of Islam-

  • The history of the six beliefs-
    The six beliefs come from a hadith about the archangel jabril. He asked prophet Muhammad to summarise the isamic faith, and Muhammad responded by listing these specific beliefs.
  • The five roots of Usul ad-Din in shi'a islam-

    1. The oneness of allah (Tawhid)
    2. Divine justice (Adl)
    3. Prophethood (Nubuwwah)
    4. Muhummads successors were imams (Imamah)
    5. The day of judgement (Mi'ad)
  • The 5 roots of Usul ad-Din help shi'a muslims understand the foundation and basis of their beliefs and practises.

    "He is allah, One, Allah, the Eternal refuge. He neither begets nor is born, Nor is there to him any equivalent"
  • Allahs main characteristics-

    Tawhid - Shows that he is one and only
    Transcendence - Allah is beyond time and space
    Immanence - Allah is always with us
    Omnipotence - Allah is all-powerful
    Omnibenevolent - Allah is all-loving
    Mercy - allah forgives when people do wrong
    Fairness - Allah will never treat a creature of which he created unfairly
  • Understanding the nature of allah is important to muslims because they feel they can get closer to allah.
  • Source of authority for the nature of allah-
    "If Allah had willed, we would not have worshipped anything other than Him"
  • Risalah -
    it means message in arabic, muslims believe that allah used prophets to communicate his messages to people
  • The main role of each prophet was to teach people about worshipping one god, and living in a way that allah wants
  • Adam was the first human created by allah and is considered the first prophet by muslims.
  • Khalifah -
    Successor or ruler or leader
  • Muhammad is the founder of islam and is considered to be the final prophet

    "We believe in Allah and that which is revealed unto us and that which was revealed unto Abraham, and Ismael, and Isaac and Jacob, and the tribes and that which Moses and Jesus received and that which the Prophets received from their Lord."
  • Kutub - Holy books -
    Qu'ran - the main holy book in islam
    The tawrat - Contains laws that the followers of musa had to live by
    Zabur - Contains poetic prayers of praise for allah
    Injil - Believed to be the the teachings of isa
  • The purpose of the kutub is to provide guidance for muslims, particularly the Qur'an.
  • Source of wisdom and authority from qu'ran -

    "it is not but a revelation revealed. Taught to him by one intense in strength.
  • Malaikah -
    Belief in angels
  • Allah created angels from light. They can not sin because they dont have free will.
  • Archangels are higher ranking angels
  • Archangel jibril is the angel of revelation and the angel of mercy
  • Archangel mika'il is the angel of mercy
  • Archangel izra'il is the angel of death
  • Angelic hierarchy is based on their closeness to allah, with archangels being closest

    returned."
  • Al-Qadr - predestination -
    the idea that allah is all knowing, he knows everything and has control over everything, including all future events.
  • Predestination is important for muslims as they believe everything that takes place is due to allah permission.
  • Akhira -
    Life after death
  • Muslims believe that life on this eath is temporary, and death is the pathway to a life that is eternal.
  • Muslims believe that every single human will be resurrected on the day of judgement
  • You will be judged fairly, that decides if you will end up in Al jannah (paradise) or Janannam (Hell)

    " And whoever is blind in this life will be blind in the hereafter and more astray in way"
