  • Conscription: 1934-35

    Hitlers build up of Germanys armed forces broke the treaty of Versailles as he was only aloud 100,000 soldiers.
    Britain and France didn’t respond
  • Rhineland: 1936
    German army had orders to retreat if they met any resistance. Hitler invaded the Rhineland on the 7th March. France was outraged but still did nothing along with Britain
  • Austria: 1938
    Hitler took over Austria by demanding union with Germany. Britain and France did nothing
  • Munich Conference: 1938
    Hitler wanted Sudetenland. Chamberlain signed with Germany (wanted peace). Sudetenland given to Hitler by the treaty of appeasement. Britain and France signed that they wouldn’t go to war with each other
  • Czechoslovakia: 1939
    15th March Hitlers troops marched into the country and broke the Munich agreement. realisation that the only way to stop Hitler was war and started preparing
  • USSR (Russia): 1939
    Hitlers plan to take over Poland. chamberlain promised if he attacked Poland they wouldn’t side with him. in August 1939 secret treating with Poland to stop Britain and France helping Poland
  • Poland: 1939
    Hitler demanded the return of part of Poland known as the Polish Corridor. Britain and France declared war by promising that would the support Poland if Germany attacked
