written by -
Wilfred Owen
shutters and doors all closed
: on us the doors are closed
Dawn massing
in the east, her
melancholy army
/ attacks once more in ranks on shivering ranks of grey
our brains
ache
in the
merciless iced east winds
that knive us…
all their eyes are
ice
flowing flakes that
flock
,
pause
, and renew
ABBAC
Rhyme scheme
Nothing changes- links to being
rigid
like
army life
Reflects
monotonous
nature of men’s experience
Half rhymes-
offers no comfort or
satisfaction
first person plural-
to show how experience was shared
my subject is
war
, and the pity of
war
