• One strength of NSI is that there is research support. When interviewed, ppts conformed bc they were self-conscious about giving correct answers but weren't afraid of disapproval. Writing answers down meant that conformity fell to 12.5%. Private answers meant that there is no normative group pressure

This is because ppts knew answers to easy maths problems and were ambiguous to hard problems. Ppts relied on others as they didn't want to be incorrect.
