EARTH'S INTERIOR

• The layer beneath the crust. It is made up of solid rock and lies between the core and the crust.

  Mantle
• It is the inner part of the earth. It was also the first to be formed during the early years of Earth and is made up of iron and nickel alloy, which makes earth have magnetic field.

  core
• It is the external part of the core. This region is liquid in form and is composed mainly of an iron-nickel alloy.

  Outer core
• It is beneath outer core and is mainly made up of very dense and heavy iron and nickel material, which does not easily melt at a very high temperatures

  Inner core
• It is the quick change in seismic velocities in a boundary

  Seismic discontinuity
• The boundary between the crust and the mantle.

  Mohorovicic discontinuity
• The boundary at which the mantle meets the core

  Gutenberg discontinuity
• The boundary between the inner and outer core

  Lehmann discontinuity
