  • Critique - is a short paper, usually about one book or article.
  • Coherence - is integral in writing effective paragraphs that is, the ideas are logically arranged and smoothly connected for the reader in addition to strong topic sentences, solid supporting information, and unity of thought.
  • Autobiographical writing - is a form of writing that recounts the story focusing on a person or event in the life of the writer. It involves a definite sequence of events experienced or witnessed by the writer and it highlights a problem, conflict, or contrast between viewpoints of past and present.

  • Memoirs - These are real stories of the writer's relationship with a person, place, or even animal that also includes the writer's insights and feelings towards the relationship.
  • Personal Narratives - also knows as autobiographical incidents; texts of this form focus on and highlight a specific meaningful life experiences of the writer.
  • Autobiographical Sketches / Narratives - storytelling of one's experiences in a very light manner e.g. fond memories of childhood, high school crush, embarrassing moments.
  • Reflective Essays - serious musings about life, usually insights gained from an experience
