• Salat - Islamic prayer. This involves communicating and worshiping Allah, performing under specific conditions, in manner taught by prophet Muhammad, and recited in Arabic. Performed five times a day
• du'ah prayers - spontaneous opportunities to spend in the presence of God. A prayer for yourself, family, of to seek help from someone else
• 4 forms of Du'ah prayers

  2. Pleading God for help
  3. Asking for forgiveness
  4. Requesting for guidance and blessing
• aims of prayer

  1. To be a constant reminder to be in of the presence of God
  2. To show submission to the will of God
  3. To clean away corruption of the world
  4. To unite all Muslims
  5. To bring peace to the world
  6. To remove sins, just as water removes dirt
• Wudu is the washing of the hands, face, and feet before prayer. It is a practice done before prayer. washing specific parts of the body: hands, mouth, nose, face, arms, head, and feet in a particular order. an outward sign of their inner cleanliness need to face God
• praying in a mosque - praying with others to build the ummah (community of Muslims). men and women are separated during praying either in a different room or in the back behind the men
• Jummah prayers - Muslims coming together for concretional prayers
• 5 prayers

  1. Kajr - just after dawn
  2. Zuhr - Just after midday
  3. As'r - late after noon
  4. Mayhrib - juat after sunset
  5. Isha - after dark
• rak'ats - movements made during prayer.
