• NATO

  • 30 member states including USA and most of europe
  • largest alliance in terms of military power
  • including USA,france,UK
  • guarantees no member of NATO will start a conflict with another member+ must help defend if member attacked
• the ANZUS treaty

  • australia, new zealand and USA
  • keep pacific region safe and act as collective defence if any attacked
• CHINA AND RUSSIA

  • although china no part of any military alliances, does cooperate with countries eg Russia,india, pakistan
  • russia has military cooperation with 5 former members of USSR
