Bar Mitzvah

• This happens around a boy's 13th birthday, when he becomes a man
• A Jewish ceremony for a 13-year-old boy, which marks his becoming a full adult member of the Jewish community
• The boy will have to prepare thoroughly for this even and so he spends a lot of time studying and he reads from the Torah. The boy puts on the tefillin for the first time
• The boy may make a speech
• There is a bat mitzvah for the girls, the orthodox Jews won't do a big event for this but reform Jews will
• Bat Mitzvah happens when a girl turns 12 years old and the ceremony follows a similar patter to the Bar Mitzvah in Reform synagogues
