  • health is the state of physical and mental wellbeing
  • communicable diseases are diseases that can be passed from one person to another, such as measles and malaria
  • non communicable diseases are diseases that are not spread from person to person or animals eg: asthma, cancer
  • the immune system fight off infection
  • factors that effect health:
    • having a good immune system
    • diet
    • stress
    • life situation (access to healthcare, condoms..)
  • tumour- a mass of cells
  • cancer is caused by uncontrolled cell division and cell growth
  • types of tumours: benign and malignant
  • benign- tumour grows until there's no more room and stays on one place instead of invading other tissues (not cancerous)
  • malignant - tumour grows and spreads to neibouring healthy tissues, dangerous and can be fatal. (cancerous)
  • risk factors for cancer:
    • smoking
    • obesity
    • UV exposure
    • viral infection
    • some genes
