  • Is appropriate when the study contains:

    -must be repeated measures.
    -need to look for a significant difference between the conditions of the IV not relationship and correlation.
    -Data must be nominal (discrete categories).
  • Using the sign test
    1. state a hypotesis
    2. Record data and work out sign
    3. find and calculate S value
    4. Find N value
    5. use critical value table
  • IMPORTANT
    The calculated value of S must be equal or less than the Critical value for a significant result.
    Difference between two groups or two sets of data can be caused by chance so no significant difference between them.
