  • Medea’ was performed at the Olivier Theatre on September 4th 2014 and shown on National Theatre Online. It was directed by Carrie Cracknell and written by Ben Power. The play is about a woman called Medea who is abandoned by Jason - her husband of ten years - to wed King Kreon’s daughter Kreusa. Medea and her sons are banished from Corinth by Jason and, in revenge, she murders Kreusa and Kreon with poisoned gifts delivered by her sons
  • Later, she murders her own sons to cause Jason distraught. The play ends with her carrying their bodies off. The theatre style is Greek and much play is performed as naturalism, but there are elements of an abstract style, such as in the movement of the chorus. Set and props are used throughout to reinforce this story and make it even more believable.
