2 attitudes to suffering
-Many Christians feel they should follow Jesus' example, who helped many whom he saw suffering and who taught that those who believe in God should help those who suffer.
Christians believe God gave humanity free will to behave as they choose. The teachings of Jesus give guidance to help Christians use their free will responsibly.
2 attitudes to causing suffering of others
-mMany Christians are opposed to causing others to suffer.Jesus taught humans should love each other and care for those in trouble; he spoke out against using violence in self-defence because of the further suffering retaliation may cause.
- As no human is perfect it's inevitable Christians may be the cause of suffering, often accidentally. Therefore, important Christians are honest with themselves, others and God and work at repairing the damage they may have caused. Can learn from Jesus' example of healing the servant during his arrest to heal the wrong and suffering.
2 attitudes to forgiveness
The main belief in Christianity is to follow what Jesus emphasised in his teachings. Individual Christians are expected to forgive others regardless of what they've done, and they believe that in turn God will forgive them.
Many Christians would argue forgiveness is not a replacement for punishment. Possible both to forgive somebody who has committed murder and believe justice is done when they're sentenced to a long period of imprisonment.
Lord's prayer quote on forgiveness
'Forgive our sins as we forgive those who have sinnedagainst us'- what Jesus taught to Christians
