New forms of crime

• The smuggling of drugs has become more popular in modern day as more drugs are now illegal. Smugglers are fined or jailed
• After the 2005 London terrorist attacks, more laws were put on on terrorism, allowing terrorists to be imprisoned for life
• Human trafficking and smuggling in modern day has become more popular, as more criminal gangs have become involved in illegal trade
• Computers have allowed criminals to commit cyber crimes such as fraud and identity theft. These crimes are difficult to prevent as they can be committed from anywhere in the world.
• After the second world war, immigrants from the commonwealth arrived in Britain. Black and Asian immigrants faced discrimination from the press and society
• In 1958, West Indian immigrants in Notting Hill in London were attacked because of their ethnicity
• The 1971 drugs act made different punishments based on the class of a drug
