Poseidon pursues
Ody
in response to Polyphemus, his son's,
plea
to try stop him from getting to Scherie, he sends a
storm
which wrecks his
boat
it is only thanks to Ino and
Athene
that
Ody lands
safely
they pride themselves on taking travellers
home
on their swift ships, and naturally will take Ody back to
Ithaca
while
Poseidon cannot stop them helping him, he can exercise his power over them, and as they return from Ithaca their ship is turned to stone
this left them in fear, hoping that a
sacrifice
of
12 bulls
will placate him
