Show how geological features, rock units or geologic strata are shown by colors or symbols to indicate where they are exposed at the surface
Geological Hazard
Natural process that has the potential to cause harm or damage to humans and their properties
Geological Maps
FAULT - a fracture or a zone of fractures in the Earth's crust where movement has occurred
TILTS - the inclination or slant of a geological feature, such as rock layers, faults, or terrain surfaces compared
FOLDS - a bend or curvature in rock layers caused by tectonic forces, typically compression
ROCK LAYERS - a horizontal section of rock in the Earth's crust that is visually or lithologically distinguishable from its adjacent layers
Rock layers form overtime through processes like sedimentation, volcanic activity, or tectonic movement
Geological maps provide information about the Earth's geological history

Geologic Age and Formation Symbols
The letter symbols signify the name and age of the rock units in an area. The first letter refers to the geologic age, the other letters refer to the formation name or the rock type.
Landslide Susceptibility Map
Identifies areas which are subject to landslides and is measured from low to high. It takes into account where the landslides occur and what causes them (slope, soil type and the impact of the flow of water in an area).
