  A program implemented in 1935 for ages 9-13 and 14-18, focused on teaching military strategy, tactics, drills, weapons training, and survival skills

  • Specifically focused on males only, with a separate female program
  • Organized into military-style platoons, squadrons, and battalions
  • Aimed to create soldiers, spies, and a network of informants for the Gestapo
• The Hitler Youth program was not very popular, with only about 1 in 6 males joining, and faced opposition from the elder Edelweiss Pirates
• As the war ended in 1944-1945

  • Made interracial marriage illegal and sent interracial couples to ghettos
  • Allowed for the sterilization of "non-pure" Germans
• The Nuremberg Race Laws shattered any social laws that protected those deemed "non-pure" Aryans, stripping them of 90-100% of their rights
