  • 1945 - 1950 rebuild industry and agriculture
  • 1951 - 1955 'prestige projects' made regime look goof but achieved little economy
• armaments production continued after WW11 as the USSR sought to maintain its superpower statics in the Cold War
• agriculture didn't recover as well as industry and remind relatively backwards. peasants remained the 2nd class citizens
