  • Objectives of CAT

    • To develop the spirit of nationalism
    • To make the youth strong and morally confident

  • CAT I

    Citizenship Advancement Training I which requires all able bodies 4th year high school, both male and female to undergo military-oriented citizen's training to a requisite for the completion of the secondary level of education
  • CAT Commandant

    A qualified individual appointed by the school head in consultation with the CAT I supervisor and assigned to the CAT unit of the school concerned

    A male cadet or female cadette, who after completing the cadet/cadette officer's course, is appointed with commensurate rank by the CAT commandant and endorsed through the DYD CAT 1 Head

  • The program is a requirement for graduation for all 4th year high school students in both public and private secondary levels
  • Objectives of CAT Components

    • Develop in the corps of cadets of a good fellow by actually undergoing that part, in order to prepare them for their subsequent role as CAT leaders
    • Enhance the student's social responsibility and commitment to the development of their communities
    • Develop their ability to uphold the law and order as they assume active participation in community activities and their readiness in assisting the members of the community
    • Develop the personal qualities and attributes essential to successful leadership

    It comes from the Greek words philo and sophilo which means "love for wisdom". Refers to the doctrine of values that seeks answer to the meaning and purpose of life (Gregorio, 1979)

  • Loyalty Pledge: 'If you work for a man in heaven's name work for him, speak well of him, and stand by the institution he represents. Remember, an ounce of loyalty is worth a pound of cleverness. If you must growl and externally find fault, resign your positions and when you are outside, damn to your heart's content. But as long as you are part of this institution, do not condemn it. For if you do, the first high wind that comes along will blow you away and probably you will never know why.'

  • Respect for Philippine Flag

    • The national flag alone should be displayed in all public offices, buildings, official residences, public square, and institutions every day of the year
    • The flag should be displayed in the open only, from sunrise to sunset except on places designated by law and therefore should be properly eliminated
    • When flown from a flagpole, the flag should have its blue stripe on top in times of peace, and red on top in times of war
    • The flag should not be displayed in a horizontal position or hang fastened by its fly. The fly portion of the flag should be free to move
    • When displayed vertically, the triangle should be on top. The blue field should be to the left in times of peace and the red field to the left in times of war
    • When displayed over the middle of a street, as between buildings or poles, the flag should be suspended vertically with a blue stripe pointing to north or east
    • When a number of flags are grouped and displayed from stationary staffs, the Philippine flag should be in the center at the highest point or at the right of the other flag
    • The Philippine national flag must not be smaller than the others
    • When flown with flags or pennants of organization on the same halyard the Philippine flag should be at the peak
    • When displayed with another flag from a cross staff, the Philippine flag should be on its right side, and its staff should be over the staff of the other flag. Two Philippine flags should never be thus displayed
    • When the national flag is born in a parade with other flags or of other nations, it should always be in front and in the center of the wire of the other flags
    • When used on a speaker's platform without the staff, it should never be displayed vertically and placed above and behind the speaker. It should never be used to cover the speaker's desk or to drape over the front of the platform
    • When mounted on a platform, the flag should be placed on the presiding officer's right and a beak in front, as he faces the congregation. Other flags should be on its left. However, when it is displayed on a level with the congregation, it is placed on the right side of the congregation
    • The flag should be flown from a staff when displayed on a float
    • When the flag is flown at half mask to symbolize morning, it first be raised to full mask, allowing it to fly there for a moment before bringing it down to half mask. To lower the flag at sunset or any other time in order, it must be again be raised to full mask before it is brought down
    • When the flag is displayed on a small staff or in a parade, morning is dedicated by attaching black ribbon to the spear allowing the ribbon to fall naturally
    • When use to cover a casket, the triangle should be over the head and the blue stripe over the right side of the body. The flag should not touch the ground
    • The flag should not be used as a curtain or drape, used buntings of blue, white, and red or a level
    • The flag should not be raised when the weather is inclement, but if already raised, the flag should not be lowered
    • The flag shall never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, plants, or other objects. On national holidays and on historical and special occasions, as the president or local chief executive may proclaim.
