Point 3: scrooge and his father (childhood)

• What type of relationship did scrooge have with his father? = strained relationship.
• "Home little fan?" = scrooge can't quite believe that he's been asked to go home.
• "A solitary child neglected by his friends." = shows that scrooge was left to stay at the boarding school when his friends went home. Because no one came to collect him and bring him home for Christmas.
• "Poor forgotten self" = scrooge was neglected by his family and friends.
• "I could walk it blindfold" = this shows that scrooge spent so much time in the boarding he could memorise it fully. This signifies the fact that scrooge spent more time at the boarding school than he did at home.
• What did his childhood result to? = this resulted in past trauma because scrooge was never shown love in his childhood hence scrooges attitudes.
• What did this result to ? = this resulted in scrooge not being able to understand the importance of family, christmas and love. This is why he is the way he is. The cruelty of his father and others morphed him into this damaged being.
• Why does dickens do this? = dickens does this to show that's its although the person needs to change. Society as a whole needs to change in order for everyone to be a better person. Scrooge only represents the minority.
