    • prostitution is selling of sexual services
    • it is legal
    • is it illegal to solicit in a social place
    • it was immoral women having sex for money
    • it provided a good source of income when little jobs were available for women
  • Vagrancy
Vagrancy is people sleeping rough or on the streets begging (homelessness)
To clear the streets of beggars and prevent further crime from being prevented the Vagrancy Act 1824 stated that vagrancy was illegal
Now there is sympathy and concern for the vagrants and an acceptance that there are many genuine reasons for homelessness
  • Homosexuality
Homosexuality was once punished - in the 16th century it was punished by death as it went against religious views. It was then decriminalised in 1967. It is now legal to be gay and they are allowed to enter same sex marriages. Societies views have changed due to campaigns and people becoming less religious. It is now seen as morally wrong and unacceptable to discriminate against LGBTQ+
