  • Main psychologist=bandura
  • SLT says that people learn behaviours from role models
  • Bandura's experiment was on children who were shown an adult model hitting a Bobo doll with a hammer. The children were then left alone to play with toys including a Bobo doll. They found that those who had seen the model hit the doll did so themselves more often than those who hadn't seen it.
  • mediational processes
    • attention
    • retention
    • motor reproduction
    • motivation
  • Modelling involves observing and imitating other people
  • Identifying with a role model makes modelling their behaviour more likely- ie girls look up to girl role models more because they can identify
  • Vicarious reinforcement= you see a role model be rewarded for behaviour so you are motivated to reproduce that behaviour
