• Greenhouse effect:

  Carbon in the atmosphere causes the effect

  1. Light passes through atmosphere from Sun
  2. C in the atmosphere traps re-radiated heat.
  3. Planet warms
• Problems:

  Climate change:

  1. More storms
  2. Seasons shifting
  3. Becoming unpredictable

  Habitat change:

  1. Rise in sea level
  2. Desertification
  3. Habitat loss

  Ocean Acidification:

  • H2O absorbs and reacts with the CO2 to make carbonic acid
  • All animals with shells cannot make shells
  • Coral reefs will be eroded and vanish
• Reducing Global warming:

  Personal level

  • Walk, cycle or use public transport
  • Fly less
  • Use renewable electricity
  • Reuse and recycle
  • Buy locally produced foods
• Water cycle

  1. Evaporation from plants
  2. Rain fall/precipitation
  3. Condensation - water to clouds
  4. Stream- rivers to sea
