(d) The Periodic Table

Cards (4)

  • Elements are arranged in the periodic table in groups as having same number of electrons in outer shell which is why they have similar properties and the properties of elements change as you go along a period
  • Metals are found left of the zigzag in the periodic table. They are good electrical conductors and metal oxides are basic
  • Non-metals are found right of the zigzag of the periodic table and are poor conductors of electricity. Non-metal oxides are acidic
  • Group 0 elements do not react because they have a full outer shell and do not have a tendency to donate, gain or share electrons
