Sign Test

    Cards (5)

    • Step 1: Subtract IV 2 from IV 1 to get a sign of difference (if the number is positive, this is represented by a +, if the number is negative, this is represented by a -)
    • Step 2: Add up the amount of pluses and minuses
    • Step 3: The number of the less frequent sign is the S value (also known as the calculated value)
      • For example, 7 minuses and 5 pluses means the S value is 5
    • Sign test is used for :
      1. Testing difference (experiments)
      2. Uses nominal data
      3. When the experimenter uses Repeated Measures design
    • If there are any equals signs, ignore these
      • Take the amount of equals signs away from the number of participants, they are irrelevant
