  • CCPC
    • Competition and Consumer Protection Commission
    • Set up in 2014
    • Protects consumers by ensuring anyone supplying goods and services obeys consumer law
    • Ensures that competition laws are obeyed so Ireland stays a country where businesses compete fairly and consumers have choice
  • CAI
    • Consumer Association of Ireland
    • Founded in 1996 as a non-profit organisation
    • Made of many Irish consumers that represent all counties
    • Protects the rights of Irish consumers - speaks on any issue of concern to the consumer
    • Provides advice/support to consumers - CAI has a report, guide, magazine, etc.
  • ASAI
    Advertising Standards Authority of Ireland
    Set up by the advertising industry to protect consumers
    Advertisements must be legal, decent, honest, truthful
  • ComReg
    • Commission for Communications Regulation
    • Regulates competition by setting prices, allocating frequencies and issuing licences
    • Enforces law regarding communications by taking down any illegal operation, such as a pirate radio stations
  • Ombudsman
    • Appointed by the president, is unaffiliated/independent of the government
    • Investigates complaints toward any organisation, including the HSE, city councils, universities, etc.
    • To get a complaint investigated with the Ombudsman, you must have tried to resolve the issue yourself.
