    - One Party dominance: one party rules e.g. African National Congress in South Africa has won every election since 1994
    - Single Party System: a system where only one party exists e.g. The Democratic People's Republic of Korea
    - Two and a half system: two main parties with a third smaller system challenging them e.g. Lib Dem and tory coalition
    - Multiparty System: more than two parties have the possibility of winning e.g. Germany

  • Factors affecting Party Success

    - Leadership: Blair was charismatic allowing him to appeal to everyone
    - Unity of Party: Corbyn colorant win in 2016 due to divisions, same with labour in 1979
    - Funding: allows them to run better campaigns
    - Media and external issues: papers have biases e.g. Daily Mail is right wing
