  • Accommodation
    One of the vital supply sectors in the tourism industry that provides facilities where tourists can stay
  • Hotel
    • A building, edifice or premise, or a completely independent part thereof, which is used for the regular reception, accommodation or lodging of travelers and tourist and the provision of services incidental thereto for a fee
  • Resort
    • Any place or places with pleasant environment and atmosphere conductive to comfort, healthful relaxation and rest, offering food, sleeping accommodation and recreational facilities to the public for a fee or remuneration
  • Tourist Inn
    • A lodging establishment catering to transients which does not meet the minimum requirements of an economy hotel
  • Apartment Hotel

    A private or family-operated tourist boarding house, tourist guest house or tourist lodging house employing non-professional domestic helpers regularly catering to tourist and travelers, containing several independent lettable rooms, providing common facilities such as toilets, bathrooms/showers, living and dining rooms and/or kitchen and where a combination of board and lodging may be provided
  • Motorist hotel (Motel)
    Any structure with several separate units, primarily located along the highway with individual or common parking space at which motorist may obtain lodging and, in some instances, meals
  • Homestay
    Alternative accommodation facilities operated by its dwellers, offering board and lodging while extending the best Filipino hospitality, culture and lifestyle to its guests
  • Ecolodge
    A facility where visitors may stay overnight during their visit to an ecotourism site. It includes infrastructure and services designed to provide visitors with convenience, safety and an enjoyable stay
  • The word hotel is derived from the French hôtel (coming from hôte meaning host), which referred to a French version of a townhouse or any other building seeing frequent visitors, rather than a place offering accommodation.
  • Primary function of hotel is to provide lodging accommodation.
  • Hotel Management contract - is an arrangement under which operational control of an enterprise is vested by contract in a separate enterprise that performs the necessary managerial functions in return for a fee.
  • A Five Diamond hotel - provides ultimate luxury, sophistication and comfort with extraordinary physical attributes, 
    meticulous personalized service, extensive amenities and impeccable standards of excellence.
  • A Four Diamond hotel - is refined and stylish, providing upscale physical attributes, extensive amenities and a high degree of hospitality, service and attention to detail.
  • A Three Diamond hotel - is distinguished and multifaceted, providing enhanced physical attributes, amenities and 
    guest comforts.
  •  A Two Diamond hotel - provides affordable, modestly enhanced facilities, decor and amenities.
  • A One Diamond hotel - is budget-oriented, offering basic comfort and hospitality.
  • Commercial hotels - These are the largest group of hotels that primarily caters to business travelers. They offer a wide variety of services and facilities that meets the exquisite taste of guest. It is common to see state- of-the- art rooms and recreational facilities in this category.
  • Airport hotels - are named so because of their proximity to major travel centers like the airport. Typical target markets include business travelers who do not want to travel long after a long haul flight, airline passengers with overnight travel layovers or canceled flights and airline personnel.
  • Resorts Hotels- are designed for relaxation and vacationing guests as they target the leisure market. It may be located in the mountains, on an island, or in some other exotic location away from crowded residential areas. 
  •  Bed and breakfast hotels -  usually are converted houses, historical buildings that offer rentable rooms to guest. The number of guest rooms in this category ranges from 20 to 30 guestrooms and may offer limited but homey food and beverage service.
  • Suite hotels - Suite hotels feature luxury rooms. These may include a foyer and kitchen as part of the guestrooms and butler service. 
  • Extended stay hotels -Designed for travelers who intend to stay five days or longer and require reduced hotel services. This would include a kitchen area. 
  •  Convention hotels -Convention hotels primary caters to conventions and meetings from small to large groups. 
  • Casino hotels -Highlights gaming as one of the entertainment venue for guest.
  • Hostels - is a budget-oriented, shared-room ("dormitory") accommodation that accepts individual travelers (typically backpackers) or groups for short-term stays, and that provides common areas and communal facilities.

    1.Beach resort (located along the seashore) 
    2. Inland resort (located within the town proper or city) 
    3. Island resort (located in natural or man-made island within the internal waters of the Philippine Archipelago 
    4. Lakeside or riverside resort (located along or near the bank of a lake or river)

  • Rooms Division Manager - Is responsible to the general manager for the efficient and effective leadership and operation of all the rooms division departments. 
  • Front Desk Manager – Ensures smoothly flow of the front desk operations. Makes sure that the front desk clerks provide professional and friendly guest service. Also, performs check night clerk report; review previous night’s occupancy and night’s average rate. 
  • Reservations Manager – Ensures that the department exceeds guest’s expectations when performing their tasks in making reservations.
  • Bell persons – escort guests and transport luggage to their rooms. 
  • Door Attendants – greet guests at the front door, assist in the opening/closing automobile doors, removing luggage from the trunk, hailing taxis, keeping the hotel entrance clear of vehicles.
  • Concierge - is a uniformed employee of the hotel who has his/her separate desk in the lobby or on special concierge floors.
