W - 2: SOLVE MEASURES OF POSITION(UNGROUPED DATA)

Cards (9)

  • Ungrouped data

Data collected in original form, an array of numbers, a list of numbers that is not sorted into categories, classified or grouped
  • Solving measures of position for ungrouped data using Linear Interpolation Method

Calculate and Interpret specified measures of position for ungrouped data
  • Quartiles
Dividing the data set into 4 equal sizes
  • Deciles
Dividing the data set into 10 equal sizes
  • Percentiles
Dividing the data set into 100 equal sizes
  • Finding the Qn, Dn, or Pn of the test scores
    1. Arrange the scores in ascending order
    2. Locate the position of the score in the distribution using the formula
    3. If the result is not a decimal number, locate directly the value in the given distribution
  • Linear Interpolation
The process of finding a value between two points on given set of data
  • Steps of Interpolation
    1. Find the difference between the two values wherein Dk is situated
    2. Multiply the result by the decimal obtained
    3. Add the result in the smaller number in Step 1
  • Steps for Ungrouped Data
    1. Arrange the scores in ascending order
    2. Locate the position of the score in the distribution
    3. If the result is a decimal number, proceed for the interpolation
