  • A stressor is any stimulus that causes a person to experience stress.
  • A stressor is subjective to an individual.
  • Alarm - gives a boost of energy, increases heart rate, blood pressure and blood sugar.
  • Resistance - the body attempts to counteract the effects of the alarm stage as the increase are harmful.
  • Exhaustion - efforts to recover have failed and the body’s energy reserves are depleted leading to depression and anxiety.
