Ionic Bonding

• Ionic Boding occurs between a metal and a non-metal
• Ionic Bonding: the electro stable force of attraction between positive and negative ions
• Ionic Lattice: a giant arrangement of ions held together by electrostatic attraction (ie ionic bonds)
• Ionic Lattises consists of millions of ions held together in a lattice by ionic bonds
• Lots of energy is required to beak the strong ionic bonds and as a result they have higher melting and boiling points
