• Cyst stage of E. coli

  = Size: 10-30 um

  = With a prominent glycogen mass in the early stage.

  = The Chromatoid bodies are SPLINTER-LIKE and IRREGULAR

  = The mature cyst has 8 NUCLEI
• Tropozoite stage of E. coli

  = Size: 20-50 um

  = With sluggish motility and contains INGESTED BACTERIA but NO RED CELLS.

  = Nucleus is Clearly Visible

  = LARGE ECCENTRIC KARYOSOME

  = Thick nuclear membrane lined with COARSE GRANULES of chromatin.
