Cards (8)

  • on the Sunday following Jesus’ crucifixion, some of his followers went to his
tomb to anoint his body. They found that the stone covering the mouth of the
tomb had been rolled away and Jesus’ body was not inside.
  • Mary Magdalene went to the
tomb and found the stone covering the tomb rolled away. She ran to Simon
Peter and another disciple who then ran to the tomb and found it empty. They
saw the strips of linen lying there, as well as the cloth that had been wrapped
    around Jesus’ head.
  • mary turned around and saw Jesus standing
there; but she did not know it was Jesus. He asked her, “Woman, why are you
crying? Who is it you are looking for?” Thinking he was the gardener she said,
“Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get
him.” Jesus said to her “Mary.” She turned towards him and said “Teacher.”
Mary then went and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord.
  • Later on in the evening, the disciples were together in a locked room. Jesus
came in and stood among them and said “Peace be with you.”
  • The disciples were
overjoyed at seeing the Lord. One of the twelve disciples Thomas was not with
them when Jesus came. He did not believe the disciples when they said Jesus
    had appeared to them.
  • a week later, the disciples were together again,
and this time Thomas was with them. Jesus came among then and said to
    Thomas “Stop doubting, and believe.”
  • the ressurection provides evidence for christians that Jesus was God
  • God. Jesus’ resurrection fulfils the
prophecy that the Son of Man would rise again. The resurrection of Jesus is
fundamental to the Christian faith. St Paul says that if Christians don’t believe
in the resurrection of Jesus, then their faith is pointless and has no meaning: “…
If Christ had not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.”
