GAC model

• GAC model - shows how energy which controls weather and climate is transferred into to the atmosphere
• Coriolis effect - the spin of the earth the deflects wind
• The cell between 0 and 30 degrees from the equator is called the Hadley cell
• The cell between 30 and 60 degrees from the equator is called the Ferrell cell
• The cell above 60 degrees from the equator is called the Polar cell
• High Coriolis effect happens between 5-15 degrees north and south of the equator
• Air rises at the equator because there is low pressure, then at 30 degrees north and south of the equator the air sinks because there is high pressure.
