  When tree rings are wide and thick it can indicate fertile season, whereas narrow rings indicate a less fertile season.
• Retreating glaciers

  Short term

  As soon as temperatures increase slightly glaciers shrink significantly. We can see this as huge ice shelves have broken off in Antarctica
• Ice cores

  Long term

  Air bubble from past atmospheres get trapped in the ice and scientists can test what the atmosphere was like
