neurones

Cards (2)

  • o   Cells that conduct a nerve impulse.
o   The things that people do, think, say, and feel are in response to the interactions between the neurones by passing on electrical and chemical messages.
o   Dendrites receive signals from other neurones or sensory receptors.
o   Axon carries the impulses away from the cell body down the length of the neurone.
o   The myelin sheath insulates the axons allowing the electrical impulse to travel faster and alone a longer axon.
o   The cell body contains a nucleus which is the control centre of the neurone.
  • o   Sensory neurone: receives information from the environment through the sensory receptors on your skin and passes information to the CNS.
o   Motor neurone: receives an electrical impulse from the CNS and carries the impulse down to target organs, glands, or muscles, wherever it is needed for a specific response.
o   Relay neurone: for any reflex movement, found between the brain and spinal cord, it carries impulses from the sensory to motor neurone.
