  • Inside address
    Includes the name and address of the firm or the individual to whom the letter is written, using appropriate titles (Mr., Mrs., Miss, Dr., etc.)
  • Salutation
    The complimentary greeting that begins a letter, followed by a comma (,) or a colon (:)
  • Body
    Contains the message to be communicated, including: 1) Identifying the purpose of the letter and how the job opening was learned about, 2) Briefly describing professional and academic qualifications and skills, 3) Requesting action and indicating desire for a personal interview with contact information
  • Complimentary close
    Serves to end the message, using formal expressions like "Very truly yours," "Sincerely yours," "Very respectfully yours," etc.
  • Signature line
    Consists only of the name of the writer below the complimentary close, followed by their designation
