Experimental methods

• All experiments involve a change in an IV variable, with a researcher recording or measuring the subsequent effects on the DV

  How the IV changes and under what circumstances, varies from one type of experiment to another
• There are 4 types of experiments in psychology:

  • Laboratory experiment
  • Field experiment
  • Natural experiment
  • Quasi-experiment
