Salat

• Salat is the duty to pray 5 times a day
• Rakah is a series of movements
• Muslims take off shoes, fully cover body themselves and get a prayer mat facing meccah and wash themselves
• Du’a is asking for forgiveness and blessing
• Muslims can pray in any clean place but many pray in mosques to increase togetherness
• Du’ah is personal prayer forms of it:

  • asking for forgiveness

• Prayer is important because it is a way to connect with God and to ask for his help.
• “If one of you sleeps and misses a prayer or forgets it let him offer the prayer when he remember”
• Purpose of a prayer mat is to separate them from the world
• Adhan is islamic call to prayer often called by a muezzin, when hearing the adhan they start preparing for prayer
• People pray at home to feel more comfortable in how they pray and to feel closer to God.
• The rak’at is a sequence of movements - prostate kneed with feet folded
