Cards (3)

  • Procedures 1
    • The sample was obtained using opportunity sampling
    • PET scan was used
    • All participants given an injection of a tracer - taken up by active areas of the brain thus it was possible to compare the brains of NGRI + control group
  • Procedures 2
    • All participants were asked to do a continuous performance task (CPT) - aimed to activate the target areas of the brain so investigators can see how different areas functioned
  • Procedures 3
    • Participants were given time to practice the CPT before receiving the FDG injection
    • 30 seconds before the injection, participants started CPT so the initial task novelty wouldn't be FDG labelled
    • 32 minutes after the FDG injection a PET scan was done
    • 10 horizontal slides of their brains were recorded using cortical peel + box techniques
    • The article provided precise details of the scanning techniques so the study can be replicated
