Left Realism

• Left Realism:

  • Left wing views are that a capitalist society is an unequal society.
  • We can reduce crime by making a fairer society.
• Left Realism:

  Relative Deprivation- How deprived you feel relative to those around you. Some turn to crime because of this unfairness to obtain what they otherwise cannot get because of societal inequality (Lea and Young)
• Left Realism:

  Subculture- They share the materialist goals of the well off, but because of social barriers, they cant earn the money legitimately so they turn to crime. Therefore turn to crime to solve their problems.
