    • requires motivation and commitment to attend sessions and practice relaxation over a period of time
    • unlike drugs which are a quick treatment than require less willpower and commitment
    • may stop treatment SD may not be appropriate for phobias

    • more appropriate treatment then flooding
    • it produces less anxiety due to gradual exposure where the client has more control compared to the traumatic procedures in flooding
    • this suggest that clients may prefer SD and are more likely to continue treatment
    • therefore SD is a more ethical treatment than flooding
