  • Pursuant to section 15 of Article IV of Republic Act No. 10912, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Professional Regulatory Boards (PRB), in consultation with the CPD Councils and their stakeholders, hereby adopt and promulgate this Implementing Rules and Regulations to carry out the provisions of Republic Act No. 10912.
  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
    Refers to the inculcation of advanced knowledge, skills and ethical values in a post-licensure specialization or in an inter- or multidisciplinary field of study, for assimilation into professional practice, self-directed research and/or lifelong learning.
  • AIPO/APO
    Refers to the Accredited Integrated Professional Organization or the Accredited Professional Organization in a given profession.
  • CPD Council
    Refers to a body created to promote and ensure the continuous improvement of professionals, in accordance with national, regional and international standards of practice.
  • CPD Program
    Refers to a set of learning activities accredited by the CPD Council such as seminars, workshops, technical lectures or subject matter meetings, nondegree training lectures and scientific meetings, modules, tours and visits, which equip the professionals with advanced knowledge, skills and values in specialized or in an inter- or multidisciplinary field of study, self-directed research and/or lifelong learning.

  • Formal Learning
    Refers to educational arrangements such as curricular qualifications and teaching-learning requirements that take place in education and training institutions recognized by relevant national authorities, and which lead to diplomas and qualifications.

    Refers to learning that has been acquired in addition or alternatively to formal learning, which may be structured and made more flexible according to educational and training arrangements.
  • Informal Learning
    Refers to learning that occurs in daily life assessed, through the recognition, validation and accreditation process, and which can contribute to a qualification
  • Self-directed Learning
    Refers to learning activities such as online training, local/international seminars/nondegree courses, institution/company-sponsored training programs, and the like, which did not undergo CPD accreditation but maybe applied for and awarded CPD units by the respective CPD Council.

  • CPD Credit Units

    Refers to the value of an amount of learning that can be transferred to a qualification achieved from formal, informal or nonformal learning setting, where in credits can be accumulated to predetermined levels for the award of a qualification.

  • CPD Process
    1. CPD providers must apply for at least 45 days prior to the conduct of CPD activity/program
    2. CPD council will designate the number of units
    3. Generally, a maximum of 1 CU per hour of activity may be given
    4. Full credit units are given for attendance and completion of assessment
    5. For certificate of attendance: 50% of the full credit units is given for attendance/participation
    6. For certificate of completion: full credit units is given for attendance/participation and completion of pre- and post-test

    • Local CPD Provider: Php 5,000
    • Foreign CPD Provider: Php 8,000
    • CPD Program: Php 1,000 per offering
    • Self-directed and/or Lifelong Learning: Php 500 per program
  • CPD Credit Unit Requirements
    • Medical Technologists: 15 credit units for every 3 years
    • Medical Laboratory Technician: 10 credit units for every 3 years
  • Exemptions from CPD Requirement
    • Professional working overseas
    • Newly licensed professionals for the first renewal cycle after obtaining their license
  • CPD Credit Units for Senior Citizens
    • Medical Technologist: 12 credit units
    • Medical Laboratory Technician: 8 credit units
  • Affidavit of Undertaking
    Contains your specific promise to: Undertake to comply with the required number of CPD credit units during the validity of PRC ID, and Submit proof of compliance with the required number of CPD units during the next renewal of the PRC ID.
