Diode Resistance Levels (AC Resistance and Average)

Cards (9)

  • small change in AC the diode current change rapidly and the operating point will move
  • when Vd increase the operating point Q will move upward (maximum voltage and maximum current)
  • when current and voltage starts decreasing and the operating point will move downward (voltage and current is equal to zero)
  • the average ac resistance is the resistance determined by a straight line drawn between the two intersections obtained by the maximum and minimum values of input voltage
  • In general, therefore, the lower the Q-point of operation (smaller current or lower voltage) the higher the ac resistance.
  • As with the dc and ac resistance levels, the lower the level of currents used to determine the average resistance the higher the resistance level
  • DC or static
Defined as a point on the characteristics
  • AC or dynamic
Defined by a tangent line at Q-point
  • Average ac
defined by a straight line between limits or operation
