• Work is said to be done when a force is applied an object and the object moves a distance.
• Work done= force x distance moved in the direction of the force
• The SI unit of workdone is newtonmeter or joule, nm or J
• Ways of doing work:

  1. By lifting an object- Work done= GPE gained
  2. Work done against friction- Work done= Thermal energy
  3. Work done accelerating a body- Work done= KE gained
  4. Work done in elastic materials- Work done= Strain energy gained
