Economic Policies

• In 1933, roughly 11% (6mil.) of the population were unemployed.

  Between 1933-1939;

  • Trade unions were abolished and strikes were made illegal
  • Public work schemes were made to build the Autobahn. Unemployed people found work here
  • Rearmament, in violation of the Treaty, took place. Ships, submarines, planes, arms and ammunition were manufactured.
  • Volkswagen was developed in 1937 as the people's car
  • Hitler cut taxes to encourage private industry. Ex) Mercedes for motors, Krupps for steel, Siemens for electronics
