• Neutralisation - the reaction between an acid and a base.

  Reactions of an acid (word and chemical equations):

  • Acid + Base --> Salt + Water
  • HCl + NaOH --> NaCl + H20
  • Acid + Carbonate --> Salt + Water + Carbon Dioxide
  • HCl + CaCO3 ------> CaCl2 + H20+ CO2
  • Acid + Metal --> Salt + Hydrogen
  • 2HCl + Zn -----> MgCl2 + H2
